Rokie really seems to be improving quite well and is just really fun to play with. He interacts with games, tries to say words, listens to commands, cries when I tell him I have to go home, and all kinds of things you would typically expect from a toddler.
Rokie's electrolytes and toxins seemed outside the desired ranges so the medical team is "fine tuning" the medicines and fluids to get Rokus in the ideal condition. There was some talk about him going to the 4th floor this week and leaving the ICU. The rehab team will take over as to what the next things are that will need improvement before Rokie can go home. One of the doctors informed me surgery on the bowels may not be performed for 6-12 months in order to allow the kidneys a long time to heal before shocking the body again.
Another doctor was making it sound as though we will need weekly and monthly visits to monitor the kidneys. This could last many, many years.
